Culture Evening – Taipei 101 Tour

Taipei 101, one of Taiwan’s famous skyscrapers, was once one of the tallest buildings in the world, with its spectacular architectural technology and appearance attracting numerous modern architecture enthusiasts to visit. Additionally, Taipei 101 houses some luxury stores and restaurants, offering visitors a luxurious experience.

On a weekday evening for our Culture Night, there were initial concerns that the number of participants might be reduced due to scheduling issues. However, exchange students enthusiastically signed up for the event. Everyone excitedly shared their travel experiences and stories with local students when we gathered. After a half-hour drive through the bustling Taipei city, we arrived at Taipei 101.

Upon arriving at Taipei 101, exchange students were astonished by this skyscraper and eagerly began capturing 101 with their cameras and smartphones. Before entering the building, they were treated to a local Taiwanese snack – 可樂果. The exchange students were curious about this exotic snack they had never tried before and praised its unique deliciousness.

Subsequently, the exchange students entered Taipei 101 and took the Guinness World Record’s fastest elevator, swiftly ascending to the 89th-floor observatory. The speed of the elevator was truly surprising. Once they reached the 88th floor, they got up close to the world’s largest tuned mass damper. They even took pictures with it, creating a unique and memorable sightseeing experience. After exploring the area with the massive damper, they ascended to the 91st-floor outdoor observatory, where they experienced high-altitude winds, passing clouds, and a vast panoramic view.

The original plan was to return to the National Taiwan University by bus after visiting Taipei 101. However, driven by their adventurous spirit and curiosity about the Xinyi District, the exchange students ultimately voted not to follow the bus back. Instead, they decided to enjoy the beauty of Taipei in the Xinyi District fully. This decision added an extra layer of excitement and exploration to their Culture Night. They wandered through the Taipei night, indulged in local cuisine, and explored the vibrant and modern atmosphere of the city. This unconventional choice enriched their exchange experience and became an unforgettable part of their time in Taiwan.

In conclusion, Taipei 101 is a landmark in Taiwan and a place that offers a rich and diverse sightseeing experience. It is a must-visit destination for visitors who appreciate modern architecture, cultural exchange, and adventure. The Culture Night event allowed exchange students to understand Taiwanese culture and local life better while igniting their passion for exploration. Taipei 101 will forever remain a cherished memory in their exchange student journey.
