On September 10th, exchange students embarked on a cultural day trip, delving deep into the heart of Taiwanese traditions at the Vigor Kobo Pastry Museum and the town of Shifen.

The journey commenced with a bus ride to the Vigor Kobo Pastry Museum. En route, students were briefed on the historical and cultural significance of the Pineapple Cake—a beloved delicacy that has embedded itself in Taiwanese celebrations for generations.

Upon their arrival, the staff greeted students with an array of pineapple cakes, offering an authentic tasting experience. Afterwards, students were given the opportunity to create their own pineapple cakes. The day at the museum culminated in a guided tour, tracing the rich heritage of this iconic dessert. A lively photo session and the distribution of goodie bags marked the end of this delightful segment.

Shifen, renowned for its mesmerizing sky lantern festival, was the next stop. The students, brimming with hope and excitement, penned their wishes on lanterns. As the sun set down, they released the lanterns, watching as their wishes flew upwards into the sky. The adventure in Shifen ended with a stroll around Pingxi Street. Here, students indulged in Taiwanese delicacies, from the creamy peanut roll with ice cream to savory Taiwanese sausages, capturing moments and memories amidst the tapestry of traditional flavors.

This immersive day trip not only offered students a taste of Taiwanese culture but also kindled an appreciation for its rich traditions and culinary delights.
