He introduced the concept of ‘Design Thinking’ in business and challenged the students to produce a product idea that will help the blind “see” the time. This led to fervent discussions among the team members. In the end, he showed the students the business that successfully designed a watch that not only helps the blind see but is also marketable to the mass public.

Case Study, D.E.I: Professor Leon van Jaarsveldt led the second group activity of the day. He offered a case study for students to role-play and discuss different scenarios that may happen in a multicultural group with a lack of communication.

Program & Office Introduction: The Dean of College of Management, Dean Shing-yang Hu and the GMBA program director, Professor Bryan Jean, got up the stage and introduced NTU, College of Management and GMBA, as well as its faculty members.

Open Space: Students at National Taiwan University are encouraged to join clubs. Here, GMBA students’ clubs set up in small tables, where interested freshmen can inquire and sign up if they are interested.

Time Capsule Letter: Since the beginning of the day, students were given blank a piece of paper. Everyone was to write a letter to their future selves and seal them inside the envelope provided. The students will be able to open the envelope when they graduate.

Conclusion:

The Global MBA Orientation for 1st Year Fall Semester 2024 Students was considered a success as students became acquainted with each other, and were introduced to the professors and faculty members, which formed new bonds in the process.
