Fall 2024 NTU CoM Exchange Student One-Day Culture Trip
On September 7th, 2024, I joined a group of exchange students for the “Taiwan Cultural Odyssey: Coastal Heritage Exploration & Make a Wish!” It was a perfect mix of sightseeing, hands-on activities, and bonding with the students.
Our first stop was Heping Island National Park, where the coastal views were breathtaking. The unique rock formations, especially the “Crowd of Thousand Heads,” were fascinating. Walking along the coastline with the ocean breeze felt so refreshing, and the natural beauty made it impossible to resist taking endless photos.
After Heping Island, we headed to Shifen, famous for its sky lanterns. This was the part I was most excited about. We each decorated our own lanterns with wishes and drawings, and when we released them into the sky, it was a magical moment. Watching them float away into the evening sky was such a beautiful and peaceful experience.
We then explored Shifen Old Street, where we tried some delicious local snacks like peanut ice cream rolls – sweet, crunchy, and exactly what I needed. The old railway running through the town added a nostalgic charm, making the stroll even more special.
By the time we returned to NTU, I was tired but so happy. The day was filled with unforgettable experiences and new friendships, making it more than just a regular trip. It reminded me how much I love being part of the Buddy Program- it’s such a fun way to explore Taiwan, connect with exchange students, and create lasting memories.
