Inside the Machine: NTU GMBA Takes on Computex 2026

On Friday, June 5th, 2026, a group of NTU GMBA alumni, current students, and invited guests made their way through the sprawling halls of the Nangang Exhibition Center and into one of the most consequential technology showcases of the decade. What began as a morning of coffee and conversation at Computex 2026 became a full-day immersion in the forces reshaping computing, from the data center to the factory floor, led by two NTU GMBA alumni who, between them, have spent their careers at the intersection of chips, capital, and cross-border business.

The NTU GMBA Computex Meetup was organized by Peter Chang, Founder of Auspicium Investment Ltd. (良易投資) and a veteran of the chip industry, and Alex Garcia, General Manager of Aceolution Taiwan (Taiwan Phoenix Hub) and an NTU GMBA alumnus. The day drew roughly over a dozen participants from across the NTU community, alumni and current students representing companies including MediaTek, ADI, CHT, SMBC, Boeing, AlphaEdge Capital, CreatorDB, and Ennoconn Group.
The day began at the Nangang Exhibition Center with a guided tour of key booths, where the group explored the latest advancements in AI hardware and infrastructure. The organizers and the NTU GMBA community would like to extend a special thanks to the Taipei Computer Association (台北市電腦商業同業公會) for their invaluable support in making this guided tour possible, and to PSMC, Advantech, Inventec, ASRock, MiTAC Computing, and Transcend for their warm hospitality at their booths, providing our members with an unparalleled, up-close look at the technologies driving the future of the AI computing continuum.
Following the tour, participants gathered for a networking lunch at Amor Fati to discuss their observations. The afternoon featured two research-backed presentations by Peter Chang at a Skydeck overlooking the Taipei skyline. The first provided a comprehensive overview of the semiconductor value chain, while the second, “Computex 2026 Decoded,” analyzed the industry’s definitive shift toward Agentic AI and the resulting surge in global computing demand. With the morning’s observations still fresh, the conversation shifted from the showroom floor to the broader strategic implications of the AI computing continuum.
The first session aligned the semiconductor value chain with the AI stack, showing how competition now spans from custom silicon to services. This grounded finance and management professionals in the industry’s physical realities.
Peter’s keynote, “Computex 2026 Decoded: The AI Computing Continuum,” highlighted the shift to autonomous Agentic AI, which is expected to increase token demand 40x by 2030. He outlined three converging hardware waves.
In data centers, hyperscalers are adopting rack-scale blueprints. Intel and Arm showcased solutions reducing agentic latency and supporting thousands of cores, while tour stops at Inventec, MiTAC, and ASRock displayed the necessary dense racks and liquid-cooling tech.
The second wave focuses on the edge to manage costs and privacy. Qualcomm, NVIDIA, and Arm demonstrated local inference capabilities, supported by infrastructure from PSMC and Transcend, which enable low-power chips and high-bandwidth memory.
The third wave, Physical AI, brings AI into the real world. Qualcomm and NVIDIA are developing robotic computing and training ecosystems, while Advantech demonstrated industrial Edge AI platforms for smart manufacturing.
Final discussions addressed the human and structural elements of this shift.
Topics included investment targets like Silicon IP and hurdles like power grid deficits, memory bottlenecks, and orchestration complexity. The day concluded by bridging the gap between silicon and strategy.
For the community, the Computex Meetup was a reminder of what the network can do when it is put to work: not just connecting people in a room, but giving them a sharper lens on the world they are trying to build.
