On May 5, 2026, the GMBA hosted an Industry Leader Dialogue with Advantech Co-Founder Prof. Chaney Ho, who provided a profound roadmap for building a sustainable, ethical career. Central to his philosophy is mental toughness and a grounded work ethic. Reminding the audience that “tough times never last, but tough people do,” he urged professionals to value the process over the final result. By committing to doing their absolute best and accepting outcomes beyond their control (“let God do the rest”), leaders can maintain their authenticity and navigate high-pressure challenges without burnout.

Addressing the complexities of ambition, Prof. Ho redefined prosperity with the principle that “enough is wealth,” framing it as a crucial safeguard against greed. He warned that ill-gotten gains inevitably invite retribution and argued that accumulating wealth without contributing to social good is a fundamental failure of leadership. He challenged the next generation of executives to act as ethical stewards of societal well-being rather than mere profit-generators.
Transitioning to career strategies, he advocated for a highly intentional approach to networking. Rather than forcing superficial, transactional interactions, he advised professionals to proactively initiate connections and ensure a reciprocal “give-and-take” of mutual value. He emphasized that true respect is earned through genuine character and virtue, not through organizational hierarchy, job titles, or empty flattery.
Finally, Prof. Ho offered vital guidance on internalizing success and managing stress. He recommended containing joy in success, using gratitude to prevent pride, and embracing failure as a necessary tool for growth by focusing only on controllable variables. To maintain mental clarity, he suggested practical habits like journaling, reading, socializing, and environmental “scene changes.” Concluding with an interactive Q&A where he offered tailored advice, the session left attendees with a clear message: a leader’s most valuable asset is an integrity-driven inner compass.
