At the College of Management, National Taiwan University (NTU), we welcomed students from Waseda University, Japan, to participate in a short-term program in Taiwan from August 26 to September 3, 2025.

The program officially began on August 26, 2025, at Jhong Guang Hall, College of Management Building 1, with a warm welcoming speech by Professor Bryan Jean, Associate Dean of the College of Management. This was followed by remarks from Professor Toshiyasu Ogawa, Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Professor of Chinese Literature at Waseda University, and Mr. Satoshi Tsumura, Director of the Waseda University International Exchange Center Taipei. They delivered their speeches in Japanese, Chinese, and English, reflecting their enthusiasm for the success of this intercultural program.

During the program on the NTU campus, students attended an exclusive lecture by Mr. Jun Ishikawa, a Japanese Certified Public Accountant from Yamada & Partners Taiwan CPA. He shared insights from his professional experiences in Hong Kong and Taiwan and offered advice as a Japanese CPA to students. In addition, Professor Bryan Jean, Associate Dean of the College of Management at NTU, delivered a lecture on International Marketing as part of the group’s academic journey in Taiwan.

Besides the on-campus lecture at NTU, students visited three different companies in Taiwan. The first destination was Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, where they gained insights into the company’s history, management strategies, and core values in the era of digital transformation. The visit concluded with an exclusive tour of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taipei Xinyi Place, guided by Vice President Liu Zhiting and store section managers.

The second destination was Lin’s Ceramic Studio in Yingge District, New Taipei City. Mr. Jung-kuo Lin, the founder of the studio, delivered an engaging presentation on the uniqueness of the brand’s tea ware. Students had the opportunity to sample the products firsthand and experience the different flavors that each vessel brings out in tea. He also showcased a variety of pottery sets, each designed to complement different types of tea.

Lastly, the third destination, Mitsubishi Corporation (Taiwan) Ltd., provided students with insights into international relations by presenting the company’s background and growth strategies through Mr. Hajime Mitachi, an experienced professional who had overseen the Head Office Corporate Planning Department and the Regional Strategy Department. In the second half of the program, staff representatives with cultural experience in both Japan and Taiwan were invited to share their perspectives at Mitsubishi Corporation, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of the corporate world.
